Dove — The Beauty Machine

‘Reveals the price women pay for beauty’ - The Independent

The Experiment —

The Dove Beauty Machine is an experiential installation designed to make algorithmic bias visible. Set in London’s Waterloo Station, the machine mimics social media feeds by repeatedly generating near-identical “ideal” faces, revealing how platforms reinforce a single standard of beauty through repetition. Created as a new chapter of the Campaign for Real Beauty, the project turns an invisible digital influence into a tangible, unsettling experience, then flips it into action by inviting women to challenge this sameness through an open call, sharing their own faces across billboards and social channels to celebrate real diversity.
